Officials in central California are monitoring roads, highways and bridges for flood damage after the latest in a series of atmospheric river storms spread across California on Tuesday (March 14) brought another deluge of rain to the already-saturated state.
On the border of Monterey and Santa Cruz counties, the floodwaters from the Pajaro River that spilled out onto farmlands from the levee breach over the weekend have forced officials to close the nearby Highway 1 that connects Santa Cruz and Monterey counties. Highway 1 is California’s scenic north-south highway that runs along the Pacific coastline.
