Denver sheriff Deputy Bret Garegnani was fired Oct. 7 for slamming a handcuffed man to the floor inside the Lindsey-Flanigan Courthouse on March 8. A top public safety official said in the letter explaining Garegnani’s firing that it was remarkable the handcuffed man was not seriously injured by Garegnani.
