CAN WE AT LEAST SEE WHAT THE TRANS-PACIFIC PARTNERSHIP IS BEFORE IT GETS VOTED ON?

by Dave Felice
Colorado consumers who care about origin and quality, reported by the Denver Post’s Dave Burdick on 12/23, will be shocked by the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade treaty.  The secretive TPP, being negotiated by President Barack Obama’s trade representative and 600 multi-national corporations, reduces standards and creates difficulty in determining where and how goods are produced.
The toxic TPP eliminates country of origin labeling.  The TPP would send more American jobs to countries with lower wages and poor labor conditions.  A totalitarian nation such as Vietnam, which allows child labor, would export more food and consumer goods to Colorado with an unfair pricing advantage.
Dog food from China has already killed animals in the U.S.  Under TPP, humans face the same threat.
Congress is obligated to protect and stimulate the domestic economy.  By constitutional authority (Article 2) our elected representatives must see and fully debate the complete Trans-Pacific Partnership treaty.
